Goose Creek State Park
It's hard to see all there is to do in just one trip

The Goose Creek State Park is a great place to visit. They have eight miles of trails to explore. Those that visit can experience draped in Spanish moss, wetlands and a swamp. There are also numerous other things to do while you are at the park. There is a boat ramp as well for those that want to spend some time on the water, go kayaking and canoeing. The creek also allows fishing there are both freshwater and saltwater fish especially while in the warmer weather. Of course, you have to have a state fishing license however there are no fees for fishing at Goose Creek State Park.

If you would rather go swimming it is also a beautiful and peaceful place. There is a designated area for swimming. Guests just have to follow a short path from the last two parking lots. The park has a sandy beach that offers access to the Pamlico River. The swimming area is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day free of charge. Make sure that you keep in mind that there isn't a lifeguard on duty.

If you are looking to have a relaxing picnic there are three picnic areas including the main picnic area. The main picnic area is located on the riverfront it is mixed in with a forested area and can accommodate several families. One of the tables is handicap accessible and has two adjacent grills. Four of the tables in this area are under shelter. There are 8 more picnic tables that are in this main area with an additional three grills throughout the park. There are also the Flicker Feild Picnic Area and Dinah's Landing picnic area. All the picnic tables are used on a first-come basis if you would like to ensure that you get a spot you can reserve them for a fee.
